Focusing on the aspect of employees sharing their daily lives, we endeavored to create an environment in which each and every individual would feel comfortable and at ease, just as though they were in the haven of their own homes.
The passage from the entrance to the office at the back utilizes an arched wall as a design inciting a change in pace in the employees as they pass through it. As the workspace spans three floors, we were asked to find a solution to facilitate better communication.
Through an integrated design leveraging the stairs – which are the heart of movement - as a communication space, we transformed them into a symbol linking the individual floors and an opportunity to briefly stop and converse with people encountered along the way. The design using elements such as a horigotatsu (sunken table)-style, planter benches, lighting, and low library tables enticing employees to gather naturally along the curves. This achieves a good balance with a space allowing employees to concentrate so that they may move between floors in an appropriate setting each time.
We have used a different faint color as the undertone for each individual area to achieve a soft atmosphere combined with a rounded design. Breathing new life into a simple building for commercial purposes, this project successfully created an office exuding the sense of closeness fitting of Cocone from the moment one steps through the entrance made from warm, inviting wood panels.
