The new Abema Towers complex at Udagawa-cho in Tokyo’s Shibuya was constructed to bring together all of CyberAgent’s currently dispersed media, gaming and other activities. The goal was that the offices for the various departments would be like a town where about 3,000 employees could work together in a spirit of unity in a mutually stimulating environment.

With its emphatically uneven walls and different-sized conference rooms, the meeting floor has an irregular layout intended to suggest the line of a city. Another element that gives a street-like feel is the informal bench seating units incorporating plants. The wood, mortar, glass and other materials were basically chosen because they are also used in cities.

The 11th floor is a lounge where relaxed interchanges between employees can take place. The bright rooms make full use of natural light and have been equipped with a wide variety of furnishings, including sofas and big tables, to accommodate a broad range of needs. There is also the “mind-tech” room for engineers and designers who want a quiet space where they can concentrate on their work. Our design promotes immersion in the company’s culture; at the same time, we have created an environment that is comfortable for everyone and easy to work in.
