Designing Comfort and Quality in a Compact Space

A new coworking space operated by NSRI LLC has been opened in Kawasaki city. In a boxy space that was once a convenience store, the relaxing coworking space was constructed with the image of a hotel lounge. Located along the cycling path of the Tama River, users can drop by car or bicycle for a quick visit. It is a drop-in only workplace that allows users to freely decide the days and hours of their stay.

The lighting plan is carefully designed to create a subtle glow with indirect lighting reflecting the shadows of the materials and soft lighting flooding through the louvered ceiling, creating a different look during the day and at night. There are also box seats where you can immerse yourself in your work alone, café tables that can be used for quick meetings, and phone booths that can be used for various work situations.

The big sofa stretching from the entrance to the work area has a unique design with randomly arranged bookshelves and plants. The café counter, with its distinctive gentle curve, and many other details are scattered throughout to dispel the low ceiling and boxy image. The big table in the center of the space is accentuated by the mixture of gorgeously arranged plants and organically shaped pendant lights. The result is a compact yet high-quality workplace that combines an elegant and relaxed atmosphere with high functionality.
