Wolfgang’s Steakhouse by Wolfgang Zwiener TEPPAN
A Space of Tranquility Amidst the Hustle and Bustle of the City
Originally founded in New York City, Wolfgang’s Steakhouse has since expanded to countries around the world. From this popular brand with locations in many neighborhoods known for fierce gourmet competition, comes a new brand based on the concept of Japanese teppanyaki cuisine. With an eye toward global expansion, the inaugural location of “Wolfgang’s Steakhouse by Wolfgang Zwiener TEPPAN,” has opened in Tokyo’s Ginza district with a design that incorporates a Japanese essence into the expertise and worldview cultivated at Wolfgang’s Steakhouse.

Japanese elements associated with Zen have been incorporated to maximize the intrinsic appearance and appeal of materials such as wood and stone. The bold decision to deliberately close off the façade separates the interior from the exterior, inviting visitors into another world.
After being greeted with sake and wines from around the world, guests move to the custom-designed counter seating, which faces the teppan (iron plate), or one of the many private rooms available on either side of the restaurant. Composed of stone, wood, leather, and other minimally processed materials, the space expresses the idea of Zen in a rustic ambiance that makes bold use of the archetypal forms of these raw materials with lighting that subtly highlights their appearance and detail.
The choice of furniture and fabrics enhances the cozy impression to create a warm, homey atmosphere, while the lighting has been carefully selected for color temperature to allow guests to enjoy a moment of luxury. Based on precise subtraction, this understated design embodies a worldview that is both unique and sophisticated.
