KOIL TERRACE

A Creative Place with a Swirling Intellectual Culture

We designed a creative place named “KOIL TERRACE” in the Kashiwanoha neighborhood, which has been certified as a smart-city model for the next generation of environmental cities. The building contains multiple work areas where foster interaction among users and an atrium where locals can enjoy spending their spare time with families and reading books from the floor-to-ceiling bookshelves.

Design and Production Strategy for Office Buildings

The atrium on floor one (ground floor) is available to a wide variety of users such as businesspeople and locals. Floors two to five are dedicated to offices. To foster interaction between employees of companies with offices in the building, floor six features multipurpose co-working spaces and lounges along with a spacious terrace.Designed as a library, with bookshelves covering the entire wall area of each floor, the dynamic atrium extending up through five stories offers a luxurious knowledge space. From the atrium you can watch people coming and going. Large windows over the building’s entire facade give an unbroken view of Kashiwanoha’s natural setting and are designed to let healthy, mood-enhancing sunlight shine in.
The co-working spaces have been set up to allow a variety of options for use, with an area of desks where individuals can concentrate on their work surrounded by café tables and facing semi-circular sofas. Making use of indirect illumination and downlights, the attractive lighting design gives the whole building pleasantly contrasting appearances at midday and dusk. We hope that the knowledge culture created by this space and the different people who come together in it will be an impetus to the city’s development.

H¹O Toranomon

An Open Lounge Connecting Land and Business

In Tokyo’s Toranomon district, a new hub of Nomura Real Estate Development’s H¹O series designed by DRAFT was born. Toranomon’s name originates from the nickname given to the gate of Edo Castle located on the outer moat. With the “gateway” that serves a role of welcoming visitors as our inspiration, we designed the common lounge leveraging gate and arch elements.
