Set Up Office Ginza will open on Dec 21
In response to the covid-19 pandemic, a designer Taiju Yamashita started a new office project with Professor Hitoshi Hirata from Nagoya University School of Medicine. Their first office project that has effective social distancing layout and air-controlling system is going to open in Dec 21, 2020.
Designing for Distance : A New Normal Office Standard
According to our research, the average work area per person in a Japanese office is 0.9 to 1.2 tsubo (2.9sqm to 3.9sqm). In order to avoid dense contact and reduce the risk of close contact, it is important to expand the area around the desk where workers stay for a long time. In this project, we first keep in mind "designing distance" and secure 2.6 tsubo(8.9sqm), which is about 2.5 times larger than average working area per person. Expanding the area per person not only reduces the risk of infection, but also improves the well-being of employees (being in good physical and mental health), and can be expected to increase productivity and creativity.
Four Safety Ideas To Manage COVID-19 at Workplace
Another topic is the four latest facilities that create clean air. Under the supervision of Professor Hirata of Nagoya University School of Medicine, we introduced for the first time in the office a ventilation system that realizes air pressure adjustment and ventilation of large spaces such as movie theaters, which are used in hospitals and precision equipment factories.
1. Temperature measurement and attendance management with a mask: AI face recognition security that prevents you from entering the room if you suspect that you are not wearing a mask or have a fever. Attendance management is also possible without contact.
2. Prevent viruses by adjusting the air pressure: Using the positive / negative pressure system that usually used in hospitals and food factories to prevent the intrusion of dirty air.
3. Displacement Ventilation: Adopting the displacement ventilation system, which commonly used in theaters and large halls. It is an energy efficient method of air delivery that supplies air from floor or lower level, and deliver the air flow up to the ceiling exhaust system by the heat of human body temperature and the heat of computer. It is about four times more effective than the legal standard (0.5 times / h), and by replacing the air more than twice an hour, it is possible to achieve the same ventilation as when the windows are open even in winter.
4. Ultraviolet rays against floating viruses : Installing a new device Aero Shield that reduces viruses and improve the air quality by UV irradiation . According to the product company research, the floating bacteria are reduce by 89.6% in 7 hours.
A setup office is workplace
As the first office project for post-pandemic, a set-up office planned and designed by DRAFT will open at the 8th floor of Ginza Quint owned by Sun Frontier Fudousan (TSE: 8934) today, Dec 21, 2020. A setup office is workplace that comes fully equipped with interiors and facilities so that you can start working right after the moving. Unlike the co-working space where shared by large number of people, the setup office supposed to be used by a company who look for satellite office to manage distributed workspace. Also, the set-up office is very popular among companies who want to the ease of moving and reduce the initial cost of relocation.
